B.A.S.E. Camp Prom for Cancer Patients

WHY: This Prom has become a signature event for BASE Camp teens. This RIGHT OF PASSAGE is like no other prom they will ever attend. It serves so many purposes; it treats some very special children to a very special night. It allows these special teenagers to just be NORMAL for one magical night. It gives many a night to look forward to all year, helping them to see past the health challenges that they face every day.

The first BASE Camp prom was inspired by a wonderful, very special young man; LUIGI. Luigi was a frail 13 year-old that was never going to make it to his prom. The night was magical! Tuxedo rentals for the boys, prom dresses for the girls, dinner, dancing, and a ride in a luxurious limousine! YOU NAME IT; it was delivered! Luigi was named PRINCE OF THE PROM! Luigi died one month after that first prom in September 2003. His mother has wonderful pictures of her son in his tuxedo, being crowned PRINCE!
